EDGE

An 8-week exploration of Mars through
energetic experiments, self-inquiry, and embodiment practices

As intuitives, mystics, healers, and artists, many of us have been personally and systemically discouraged from embracing our Martial nature.

It makes sense. Wherever we look, we see the loudest, most horrific embodiments of Mars: war, violence, leaders who abuse their power, mass destruction of our planet.

Mars can also train us to become the confident, passionate, skilled leaders we’ve been waiting for.

I don’t think too much Mars is the real problem here. Instead, I think it’s our avoidance and repression of Mars.

Our unwillingness to take response-ability for our Mars is costing us. Greatly.

Our anger, our fears, our impulses, our preferences - they often separate us from the pack. But they also carry deep wisdom.

And yet, most of us are taught to simply ‘love and light’ them away. To meditate more. To ascend. To wash our chakras in white light.

Yikes.

How can we possibly wield our Mars with skill if we continue to pretend they don’t exist?

Among the many Martial virtues are precision, strategy, and stamina.

I believe we are called to cultivate Martial virtues with patience, humility, and nuance.

The ancients don’t call it ‘Martial arts’ for no reason. Like any other artistic skills, they require practice.

I believe that it’s precisely the sensitives, the tender-hearted, the nurturers that are called to seriously devote themselves to developing Martial qualities at this time.

The world needs your wisdom, your perspectives, and your art. The world needs you to wake up.

Will you join us in the sacred Martial practice of choosing your own path?

To engage Mars is to choose the path that you and you alone are meant to walk in this life. Over and over again.

OUR APPROACH

Embodying Mars with skill and integrity is challenging for two reasons: 1) life happens on the fly and you have literally 2 seconds to respond to it and 2) no one else can tell you how to do it because your authentic response to is unique to you and to that moment in time.

We will focus on:

  • identifying layers of conditioning that obscure your personal access to Mars.

  • discovering the taste of your authentic Mars.

  • cultivating devotional praxis with Mars to fortify this connection.

Here what I hope you’ll learn from this experience:

  • To be aware of your fear responses to Mars as they arise: your avoidance, resistance, overcompensation, and repression.

  • To equip yourself with tools, frameworks, ideas, and practices to uncover what lives behind / beyond your fears.

  • To embrace the opportunities to alchemize your fear responses into creative acts.

We will do so through contemplative tools - energy work, self-reflection, body-based practices, and discussions.

This is not a lecture-focused course. We will not be digesting a lot of intellectual content analytically.

Those who come ready and willing to experiment (either live or through the recordings) will get the most out of this container.

By the end of our time together, I want your whole being to understand that: Your Mars is unique. Your Mars is sacred. Your Mars is a gift.

PRACTICE SEQUENCE

We will meet weekly every 8 consecutive weeks (Note: Exact time for the next round is TBA)

Each week will be guided by one Mars archetype.

WEEK 1 / Mars in Gemini - Curiosity

Naming our emergent experience. The first step to meeting life with honesty is to name our experiences. How do we meet ourselves and our path with radical presence?

WEEK 2 / Mars in Scorpio - Depth

Listening to the siren call. Our fears and desires live in our sub/unconscious. How do we dive into and survive our own deep waters, where the Big Fish resides?

WEEK 3 / Mars in Aries - Audacity

Tracking our impulses, honoring our instincts. Life happens on the fly. How do we take the opportunity to engage with life when it literally lasts for a split second before evaporating?

WEEK 4 / Mars in Capricorn - Strategy

Aligning with Divine Will. Rome was not built in a day. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. How do we begin to build the stamina, will-alignment, and strength to accomplish seemingly impossible dreams?

WEEK 5 / Mars in Cancer - Intuition

Protecting The Sacred. Our intuitive senses point us towards our deepest truth. How do we protect our sacred quiet voice from external distortion and past trauma?

WEEK 6 / Mars in Libra - Alchemy

Pursuing Vital Pleasure. Pleasure plays a vital role to experience the fullness of our human experience. How do we prioritize the pursuit of pleasure amidst late capitalism and supremacy culture?

WEEK 7 / Mars in Taurus - Nature

Moving at the pace of earth. We live in a body. We are not merely a part of earth - we are earth. How do we attune to the rhythms of the earth to create sustainable, lasting changes?

WEEK 8 / Mars in Sagittarius - Possibilities

Dancing by the fire. Mars in Sagittarius teaches possibilities. In our final week, we will share stories, and celebrate our learnings and transformations. Oh, and we’ll have a dance party for sure.

IS THIS EXPERIENCE RIGHT FOR ME?

I’m calling in…

  • the sleeping warriors, who are ready to wake up as brave explorers.

  • the mystics, who are desiring to welcome their own impermanence with vibrant agency.

  • the artists, who are afraid to shed their perfectionism, yet curious to meet what’s on the other side.

  • the dreamers, who are yearning to embrace their inner flame, knowing deep medicine awaits.

This container could be right for you if…

  • You’re willing (maybe even thrilled) to take sacred response-ability for your experiences through deep inquiries and reflections.

  • You’re excited by the idea of engaging with energetic & body-based practices, self-inquiry, and discussions. (Note: No prior training necessary. I only ask for your willingness to experiment)

  • You’re intrigued by facilitators and fellow participants who take a no-bullshit, rigorous, and grounded approach to their work, while also prioritizing nuance, compassion, humor, and uninhibited mysticism.

This container might not be a good fit for you if…

  • You want a lecture-style astrology course to help you read charts.

  • You’re put off by the idea of experimenting with energetic & body-based practices.

  • You’re feeling extremely fragile and deeply traumatized. I encourage you to seek a licensed therapist.

  • You’re in survival mode due to an extreme financial, legal, or physical hardship. I encourage you to tend to your life first before considering taking this course.

To engage with Mars is to acknowledge our capacity to inflict harm, while also honoring our capability to protect the sacred.

ABOUT ME

Mars has been a teacher and an ally for me throughout my path.

Mars carried me through many difficult passages in my life: hours spent alone honing my skills as a classical musician, massive career changes, navigating childhood trauma of bully, and even illness in my family.

Yet I wasn’t always conscious of Mars’s guidance and presence.

When I heard Mars’s call for me to steward this container, my first response was: “Are you sure you got the right guy?”

People closest to me probably wouldn’t describe me as “a risk-taker,” or “a brazen truth-teller.”

As a natal Mars in Capricorn (exalted almost to the highest degree), I’ve always preferred steady rhythms and sustainable growth over impulsive moves.

To answer Mars’s invitation, I’ve had to banish my unconscious, unquestioned preconceptions of what it means to be Mars-like.

As I grow in my practice with Mars, I realize that my responsibility is to remember how Mars wants to express herself through me. And to devote myself to continuing to listen to her instructions.

My Mars isn’t red-hot. My Mars knows how to plow through, how to strategize, how to build skills, and how to create a fortress when I perceive potential dangers.

Over the years, I’ve cultivated personal practices to honor and develop Martial virtues (a special nod to Saturn, which rules my Mars).

I’ve also gravitated towards Martial partners, friends, and teachers, which means I’ve been in deep observations and contemplations over the glories and the pitfalls of Martial ways of being.

And I’m incredibly excited to share them with all of you.

(PS - Sailor Mars is definitely my favorite character in Sailor Moon and I will 1000% be channeling her energy throughout this container. IYKYK.)

A.K., Creative

I wasn't sure what to expect from EYES ON THE EDGE, but felt called to it from the moment I read the words on the portal page. I took the plunge and it did not disappoint. Every session felt like exactly what I needed that particular week.

Experiencing EYES ON THE EDGE helped me not only better understand my emotions, but approach my relationships to these emotions with curiosity and acceptance, rather than fear and shame.

This was the first container like this I'd been a part of, and the love and care Jonathan poured into EYES ON THE EDGE made me feel welcome. Instructions and what to expect were clearly outlined before the first session, and I was surprised by how quickly I felt at home in a group setting not knowing anyone. The consistency and detail Jonathan puts into each week's materials shows and their students are the better for it.

S.P., Witch, Mother

EYES ON THE EDGE was worth every penny I spent and I would do it again in a heart beat.

Jonathan is so clearly prepared & not rigid. He is committed to the work with humor and grace. Jonathan is well informed, present in the moment and wise. Jonathan is musical, quirky, funny and soooo accessible.

R.L., Somatic Coach & Astrologer

Jonathan runs a tight ship as a Mars Priestess.

By this I mean: their level of devotion to crafting and holding this container was truly exceptional - from the amount of prep work involved through to the thoughtfulness behind each and every step guiding us into this exploration with Mars.

EYES ON THE EDGE was full of rich, nuanced transmissions and embodied explorations in a non-linear, emergent approach. Jonathan created real spaciousness for us to be in our own process and honour exactly where we are. I really appreciate the clarity and openness they brought to guiding the container - offering easeful and playful invitations to engage with Mars.

Mars seem much less scary when you have a friendly Mars guide. I loved all the extra bonus resources & tools available to support our journey during the week - from homeplay, energy practices, self-inquiry and contemplations on that week's Mars flavour.
